UNIKAI Lagerei- und Speditionsgesellschaft was awarded an environmental management certificate from Det Norske Veritas Germanischer Lloyd (DNV GL) in June 2014. The certificate, in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001:2004, is valid for three years and recognises our efforts to protect the environment. This refers to the handling, storage and packing of vehicles, containers, heavy and bulk cargo, as well as all shipping services carried out by UNIKAI. Measures to improve environmental protection were drawn up together with our employees. One such measure is the current testing of energy-saving LED lamps on the light towers, for example. Chassis have also been fitted with plastic sheeting to reduce the sound the containers make when being transported. This also benefits the residents of nearby HafenCity.

As a logistics service provider based close to the city, our company attaches great importance to environmental protection. Open corporate communications create an atmosphere in which our employees organize operations more ecologically by contributing useful ideas. This is also reflected in the environmental partnership (UmweltPartnerschaft) with the Free Hanse City of Hamburg which was established in June 2009.
